Gleneagles Hospital Chennai, VITU partner on neuroscience innovation

The partnership supports epilepsy care, brain cancer, and cognitive health monitoring.

Gleneagles Hospital Chennai and Vellore Institute of Technology, University (VITU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance artificial intelligence (AI)-driven neuroscience innovation.

Key areas include neuroinformatics and brain imaging, AI and machine learning applications in healthcare, wearable and IoT-based medical devices, rehabilitation and gait-assistive technologies, and AR/VR-based diagnostic frameworks.

These technologies will support fields like epilepsy care, brain cancer, rehabilitation, and cognitive health monitoring.

Gleneagles Hospital will provide clinical problem statements and access to its medical infrastructure.

In addition, the hospital’s neurologists, neurosurgeons, and rehabilitation specialists will mentor VIT faculty and students, and oversee the validation of prototypes and clinical trials.

Meanwhile, VITU will contribute through the design and development of software algorithms, data-driven platforms, and system architectures tailored to the identified clinical needs.

The university will also support academic research, intellectual property generation, and commercialisation efforts.

The MoU was signed by Nageshwar Rao, CEO of Gleneagles Hospital Chennai, and T. Thyagarajan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of VIT University.
