Three of the chosen institutions are preparing to enter North American markets.
South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development have selected seven new medical institutions for the ‘Traditional Korean Medicine Overseas Expansion Support Program.’
Three of the selected institutions are preparing to enter North American markets—two in the United States and one in Canada.
Each institution will receive $64,108 (KRW 90m) in support, as well as legal consulting on clinic establishment and regulatory consulting for the export of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
The remaining four clinics, located in tourist-heavy areas in South Korea, have been chosen to strengthen efforts to attract Chinese patients.
The clinics will offer a range of programmes through specialised medical tourism agencies, including Traditional Korean Medicine + Tourism packages, promotional activities in China, familiarisation tours for Chinese-speaking buyers, and integrated services for international patients.
